Who we are

Social Vantage Advisory is a specialist advisory practice dedicated to transforming systems and supporting organisations to deliver services that change lives.  We exist to strengthen the human services sector by bringing clarity, capability and compassion to the work that matters most, keeping children, families and communities safe and supported.

Our practice is grounded in decades of real-world experience across frontline service delivery, government reform and consulting.  We understand the complexity of the human services landscape because we have lived it, in casework offices, in community settings, in courtrooms and in the rooms where policy and reform decisions are made.

We know that meaningful change happens when policy, practice and service delivery are genuinely connected.  That belief sits at the heart of everything we do.

Our Story

Both Andrea Lauchs and Sammy Bruderer began their professional lives working directly with children, young people and families in crisis.  They saw firsthand the challenges faced by those who rely on the human services system, and the dedication of those who work within it.  These early experiences instilled in them a belief that services must not only be safe and effective, but also compassionate, trauma-informed and sustainable.

Over the years, Andrea and Sammy followed parallel paths through frontline practice, government leadership and national reform.

Andrea became a senior leader within Queensland’s child protection system, later serving as Assistant Children’s Commissioner at the Queensland Family and Child Commission, and Director at Ernst and Young (EY) where she led statewide reforms and national reviews.

Sammy moved through roles in child protection, health and domestic and family violence, before becoming National Manager for Child Safe Organisations at NAPCAN and a Senior Manager at EY, guiding reforms that reshaped practice across Australia.

Despite working at times in different corners of the sector, their paths kept crossing.  What united them was a shared vision: that human services could, and should, do better.  They both believed in combining rigorous system review with grounded, practical solutions, and in working alongside communities to design services that truly meet people where they are.

In 2023, Andrea and Sammy joined forces to establish Social Vantage Advisory.  Together they bring more than 40 years of combined experience and a unique blend of frontline insight, executive leadership and consulting expertise.  Their work has taken them from small community organisations to national reform initiatives, but their focus remains constant: improving outcomes for children, families and communities.

Today, Andrea and Sammy are trusted advisors to government, peak bodies and service providers across Australia.  They are known for their independence, pragmatism and integrity, and for their commitment to creating systems and services that are not only fit for purpose, but that leave a lasting, positive impact on people’s lives.

For Andrea and Sammy, this is more than consultancy. It’s the work of a lifetime.

Our Values

Our work is guided by a set of values that shape every partnership:

  • Integrity: We provide honest, grounded advice that organisations can trust
  • Compassion: We understand the human impact behind every system, policy and decision
  • Clarity: We make complexity understandable and the path forward clear
  • Partnership: We work alongside organisations, not above them
  • Impact: We focus on solutions that strengthen systems and improve outcomes.

These values aren’t just statements, they are the way we show up in every conversation, workshop and piece of work.
